AI SEO

Your customers ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Mode for a shortlist. We find out whether you're on it, which sites the answers draw from and what keeps you off it.

The answer names three businesses, and you aren't one

Ask an AI assistant for a WordPress agency in Singapore, an accountant in Brisbane or a clinic near you, and it names a few businesses and cites a handful of sites. Nobody scrolls to page two.

The sites we look at miss out for a few reasons. A security plugin, a firewall rule or an old line in robots.txt is blocking the crawlers AI search uses. The service pages are too vague to quote: no prices, no locations, nothing specific. And the brand doesn’t appear on the directories, reviews and articles the answers are built from.

Most owners can’t see any of this. Search Console doesn’t report ChatGPT or Perplexity. GA4 shows the visits that came from an answer, but not the answers that named a competitor.

What we change, and where

When AI search is worth the work

  • Customers compare before they call

Professional services, healthcare, education and B2B buyers drawing up a shortlist.

  • A competitor keeps getting named

You've asked ChatGPT yourself, and it recommended someone else.

  • Clicks fell while rankings held

Google's AI answers now sit above the results you rank in.

  • Leads mention ChatGPT

New enquiries say an AI tool sent them, and you'd like more of them.

  • Your board is asking about it

Someone wants a number for AI visibility, and nobody has one.

  • You already rank well on Google

The foundations are there. AI answers are the next gap.

How an engagement runs

  1. 01

    Access

Robots.txt, Cloudflare and security plugins checked, so search crawlers can reach the site.

  2. 02

    Questions

We agree the questions your customers actually ask, in the markets you sell to.

  3. 03

    Baseline

Each question run across the AI platforms, recording who gets named and which pages are cited.

  4. 04

    Site fixes

Crawler access, page structure and service copy fixed on a private copy of the site, then pushed live.

  5. 05

    Mentions

Listings and outreach on the sites the answers draw from.

  6. 06

    Monthly tracking

The same questions rerun every month and reported against the baseline.

Search crawlers allowed, training crawlers set the way you choose.

  • Pages with real detail

Service pages rewritten with prices, places and examples only you can give.

  • Mentions where it counts

Listings and articles on the sites that shape answers in your market.

  • A report against the baseline

Why a WordPress team does this well

  • Most fixes are in the site

Crawler rules, templates and page copy. We build and look after WordPress sites, so we make the changes ourselves.

  • Tracking you can check

The same questions, the same platforms, every month. No visibility score we can't explain.

  • Search and AI together

AI answers draw on pages that already rank, so the SEO work and the AI work share one plan.

  • No made-up tactics

No llms.txt files sold as a fix, no content chopped up for AI, no paid mentions. We go by what the platforms have published and what we've measured.

GEO, AEO and AI SEO, explained

Three names for one job

Generative engine optimisation (GEO), answer engine optimisation (AEO) and AI SEO all mean getting your business named in AI answers. Google’s own guide puts it plainly: optimising for generative AI search “is optimizing for the search experience, and thus still SEO”. Ask an agency what they’ll measure and change on your site, not which term they use.

What Google says about AI search

Google’s guide to AI search says AI Overviews and AI Mode are rooted in its core ranking and quality systems. Pages need to be crawlable, indexed and eligible for a snippet, and the site has to be included in generative AI features in Search Console. Unique, first-hand content counts most. Structured data isn’t required, and there’s no need to chunk content or rewrite it for AI. Search Console has a generative AI performance report to measure the results.

What about llms.txt?

llms.txt is a proposed file that lists a site’s pages for AI tools. Google says its search doesn’t use it, and none of the major AI search platforms has said it does. It’s quick to add and does no harm. We don’t sell it as a fix.
