Oaktree Insights

A first-time founder with 20+ years of research experience needed a credible online home before referrals started arriving. We built a fast, one-page WordPress site designed to grow with the business.

Launched a lightweight, one-page WordPress site that gives Oaktree Insights a professional reference point for referrals and leads, with analytics and search tracking connected from day one.

What we were solving

Emma Eichbaum spent more than 20 years leading market research and customer experience strategy across Southeast Asia and APAC before starting her own consultancy. Oaktree Insights & Consulting helps businesses turn data into decisions, with senior-led delivery at a lower cost than the big agencies. What she didn't have was a website. Referrals were arriving with nowhere credible to land.

Brand assets were still being finalised, including a licensing question over the Avenir typeface that needed a practical substitute. The budget had to match a one-person consultancy, not an enterprise. And the site had to reflect Emma personally (her story, her values, her expertise) without tipping into the generic corporate template look she wanted to avoid.

The design strategy session set three jobs for the site: assure visitors they're in the right place, communicate Emma's expertise, and invite contact through a form or her LinkedIn profile. Nothing more.

How we tackled it

One page, built to expand
A multi-page site would have spread thin content thinner. We designed a single page in Beaver Builder with a deliberate visitor journey: hero positioning, Emma's story, services (strategy, insights, research), a "who you work with" section, case study snapshots and a contact form. Each section is a content block, so the site can grow into a multi-page structure with a blog and expanded case studies without a rebuild.

Content came first. We agreed the full draft before design started and locked final copy before development, which kept the 10-business-day build window realistic and stopped the design phase becoming a content negotiation.

Lightweight, measurable, and honest about typography
The brief called for clean and confident, not clever. Reference sites ranged from Wise to Air New Zealand, and the shared thread was clarity with a few bright accents. We substituted Figtree for Avenir, avoiding a licensing cost the project didn't need.

The build stayed light: mobile-first layout, SEO metadata and OG tags, SSL and managed hosting through Chillybin. Google Analytics and Search Console were connected before launch, so measurement started from day one. We closed with a training session and admin handover, so Emma updates the site herself.

What we delivered

Oaktree Insights now has a central reference point for referrals. The site went live in August 2025. Visitors can read Emma's background, see six case study examples spanning wine market expansion to destination branding, and get in touch through the contact form. Emma manages content updates herself, and the block-based structure means adding pages later is an edit, not a rebuild. Search Console shows impressions rising through 2026, small numbers for a one-page consultancy site but moving the right way.

What we learned

For founder-led consultancies, the website's job is narrow: confirm the visitor is in the right place, then get out of the way. The temptation is to pad a launch site with pages that don't have content behind them yet. A well-structured single page with room to grow serves the business better than five thin ones.

Locking content before design earns its keep on small projects most of all. When the budget is tight, a design phase that doubles as a copywriting phase is where timelines and margins go to die.
