K.E. Creative website

K.E. Creative

K.E. Creative runs corporate, association and Indigenous events across Australia, but its old site couldn't show that work or be edited by its own team. We built the new WordPress site from Visual Traffic's designs.

K.E. Creative now has a WordPress site its team edits itself, with case studies, regional landing pages and a care plan behind it, and the design studio kept the client relationship.

What we were solving

K.E. Creative plans and delivers events for corporate clients, associations and Indigenous organisations, with teams in Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Canberra and Adelaide. Its work is visual. Its old website wasn't.

The site was cluttered, didn't work well on mobile and gave the team little room to update content themselves. Case studies, the thing an event agency sells on, were hard to find and harder to add.

The brief came to us through Visual Traffic, a Melbourne design studio that owns the K.E. Creative relationship. Beau Cummin and his team designed every page in Adobe XD. Our job was the build, the hosting move and the handover, with Visual Traffic staying the point of contact.

That shape sets a few rules. The design studio's layouts had to arrive on screen exactly as drawn. The budget was lean, so every decision had to earn its place. And the client's team had to be able to run the site without calling anyone.

How we tackled it

Faithful to the design, flexible underneath
We built a WordPress theme to match Visual Traffic's XD files page for page, then put Beaver Builder underneath so the client's team could edit layouts without touching code. Advanced Custom Fields handled the structured content: case studies, team profiles, client logos and the award strip. Case studies took imagery and Vimeo video so each event could be shown, not described. A fullscreen off-canvas menu kept the navigation out of the way of the photography.

Review rounds through one channel
Visual Traffic reviewed each demo round in Project Huddle and relayed the client's content and feedback. We sent a short status note every Monday: what we'd done, what was next, what we needed. When content ran late, as it did for several weeks in early 2024, the dates moved and the note said so. Round two feedback landed in April, final content and imagery in May, and we filled the pages the same day they arrived.

Launch, hand over, keep going
Before go-live we mapped every old URL to its new home with 301 redirects, configured SEOPress so the client's SEO agency could start work straight away, set up GA4 and Search Console, and moved hosting to the client's own VentraIP account. After launch we ran a training session and recorded video tutorials for staff, connected the sign-up form to ActiveCampaign, and placed the site on our care plan. In August 2024 we built a location page template from Visual Traffic's Figma design, giving each city its own landing page.

What we delivered

K.E. Creative now has a site that looks like the events it produces. Case studies carry video and photography from each event. Client logos and an awards strip sit on the homepage, and the site lists the 2026 Australian Event Awards nomination for Women Deliver. The team adds pages and case studies itself, and our care plan handles updates, backups and security. Visual Traffic brought the project to us and stays the main contact, and the same partnership has since brought us other projects.

What we learned

A whitelabel build needs a stricter rhythm than a direct one, not a looser one. The design studio sits between us and the client, so a delayed answer costs two hops instead of one. The weekly status note, with dates moved in writing, kept everyone honest about where the time went.

Build for the person who edits the site, not the person who approves it. K.E. Creative's staff needed to add a case study without help. Beaver Builder plus structured fields made that true from day one.
