Evolve to Grow
Business coach Tristan Wright arrived with the designs, the copy and a funnel-driven business already humming. What he needed was a WordPress platform to run it all from. We built it, moved years of campaign URLs across without losing the search trail, and have hosted and cared for the site since.
A WordPress platform built to Evolve to Grow's own designs, structured around lead magnets, landing pages and city-by-city coaching pages, and hosted and maintained by Chillybin since launch.
The Challenge
What we were solving
Tristan Wright built a cycling wear business, nearly lost everything, rebuilt it and sold it. Then he turned that experience into Evolve to Grow, the Melbourne coaching practice he founded in 2017 to help service-based business owners run profitable companies that do not depend on their daily input. His clients typically stay two years or more; some have been with him past five.
A coaching business like this lives on its marketing engine. Lead magnets, opt-in pages, booking funnels, resources, podcasts and case studies all feed the calendar, and Evolve to Grow sells nationally (Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and beyond), so search visibility city by city matters as much as the brand story.
The previous site could not carry that weight. Years of campaign activity had left a sprawl of opt-in variants, thank-you pages and long auto-generated blog slugs, the kind of URL clutter that confuses Google and makes every new campaign harder to launch than the last. Tristan came to us with finished designs and copy in hand. Success meant a WordPress platform he owned outright, structured for the way he actually markets, with none of the accumulated search equity thrown away in the move.
Our Approach
How we tackled it
Build to the client's designs, and say so
Tristan arrived with page designs already done, so we skipped the discovery questionnaire and design phase entirely and scoped the engagement around what he actually needed: a disciplined build. Our job was to translate the designs into WordPress faithfully, adjusting only where consistency demanded it, and to flag those adjustments rather than quietly redesigning. The build ran on a tight rhythm (four weeks of development, two weeks of content, a week of responsive work, a week of final review), which is only possible when everyone agrees up front whose decisions are whose.
Structure the CMS around funnels, not pages
A brochure site needs pages. A coaching business needs machinery. We built custom post types for the things Evolve to Grow creates constantly: resources, case studies, and campaign landing pages under a dedicated /go/ path, so a new funnel page can be spun up without a developer and without polluting the main site structure. Forms integrate with ActiveCampaign, where Tristan's email automation lives, and video and podcast content pulls from Vimeo. The site is the front end of a marketing system, and the CMS reflects that.
Move house without losing the mail
The migration mattered as much as the build. We mapped every legacy URL to its new home in a final redirection plan: old long-slug blog posts about choosing a business coach in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Geelong or the Gold Coast now 301 to clean, dedicated city pages under /business-coaching/, and dozens of retired opt-in and campaign URLs resolve sensibly instead of dying as 404s. For a business that competes on "business coach + city" searches across Australia, that redirect map was the difference between carrying its search history forward and starting again from zero.
The Solution
What we delivered
Evolve to Grow launched on the new platform in 2023 and still runs on it today, tagline and funnel system intact. Tristan's team publishes resources, guides and campaign pages themselves, the city pages give the practice a national search footprint, and enquiries flow into ActiveCampaign automations without anyone touching code.
The engagement did not end at launch. The site sits on Chillybin-managed hosting with an ongoing Care Plan, so updates, security and performance are handled while Tristan does what he actually sells: coaching. The relationship runs deeper than most client files, too. Shaan has sat on the other side of the table at Evolve to Grow's business retreats, which is its own kind of endorsement, in both directions.
What we learned
When a client turns up with finished designs and copy, the temptation is to add value by redesigning. The discipline is to resist. The value we added was structural: post types that match how the business markets, integrations that feed the tools it already uses, and a build cadence that shipped in weeks because nobody relitigated decisions that were already made.
The second lesson is that for a funnel-driven business, the redirect map is not a technical chore at the end of the project. It is the part of the project that protects everything the client spent years earning. A coach who ranks for "business coach Brisbane" cannot afford a migration that treats those old URLs as rubbish to sweep up.
